Walking trough dark alleys in a Psychiatric hospital must be very scary. However, Teddy Daniels have to do to solve the mystery of  disappearance of Solando, one patient in ‘Shutter Island’.

Together with his colleague, Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio), a member of the U.S. Marshals and veteran of World War II, must investigate the disappearance of Rachel (Emily Mortimer). Rachel is one of the patients who are considered extremely dangerous. She drowned her three children in the lake.

Teddy’s attempt to find Rachel is not easy. Dr. John Cawley (Ben Kingsley), the chairman of the hospital tried to cover up the available evidences.  Although status as a U.S. Marshals, Teddy could not get the data from the hospital, nor patient datas and nurses.

However, Teddy was sure that she was still on the island. Even in his dreams, Teddy got the instructions from Dolores (Michelle Williams), his ex-wife who died from a fire in her apartment.

Until finally, comes the name of Andrew Laeddis. Who is Andrew Laeddis, whether he’s a patient to 67? Can Teddy solve the mystery of her disappearance?

Enigmatic, complex and dark is a fitting description for ‘Shutter Island’. Through the film adaptation novel by Dennis Lehane, the film director Martin Scorsese seems to want to test your intelligence capabilities.

The first 30 minutes, ‘Shutter Island’ is a little boring. However, gradually the film flow faster and makes you curious to guess the film’s end.

‘Shutter Island’ is the fourth film collaboration of Martin and Leonardo DiCaprio. Previously, they were successfully released ‘The Departed’, ‘Gangs of New York’ and ‘The Aviator’.
